How to Remove Wet or Dry Mud from Carpets

Our shoes can collect mud or dirt on wet days while doing activities outdoors. Those shoes often create stains indoors and sometimes we notice very soon and sometimes we don’t. It’s important to remove the stain before it dries but if that doesn’t happen we still have tips for you.

What you’ll need:

  1. Paper towels
  2. Cloth
  3. Laundry Detergent
  4. Dull Tool
  5. Hot Water
  6. Ammonia

What you’ll do:

In the case of wet mud:

  1. Remove as much of the mud as possible before it dries with paper towel then blot whatever more you can with paper towel as well.
  2. Rub the area with some laundry detergent if the stain remains and let it sit.
  3. Soak a cloth with some warm water and scrub the stain. Do as many times as you have to.
  4. If the stain remains. Create a solution of 1 part ammonia to 4 parts warm water and use on the stain then rinse.

In the case of dry Mud:

  1. Use a dull tool to remove as much of the dried mud as possible.
  2. Soak a cloth with some warm water and scrub the stain.
  3. Rub the area with some laundry detergent if the stain remains and let it sit.
  4. Soak a cloth with some warm water and scrub the stain. Do as many times as you have to.
  5. If the stain remains. Create a solution of 1 part ammonia to 4 parts warm water and use on the stain then rinse.
